Pettit Leadership Scholarship

Requirements
  • Junior or senior student in Electrical Engineering
  • Preference should be shown to students who exhibit leadership (for example participating in student clubs as a member or officer) potential and show promising ability to give back to electrical engineering field.
  • The uses and expenditures of this fund shall be consistent with the policies and procedures of WSU.
  • Recipient must have at least a 3.2 GPA
About the Donor

Ghery S. Pettit received the BSEE degree from WSU in 1975. Mr. Pettit has been employed full time in EMC and related matters for 41 years with the U.S. Navy, Martin Marietta Aerospace (Denver), Tandem Computers, and Intel Corporation.  He is presently an independent consultant in the area of EMC.  Prior to retiring from Intel in 2015 he was the EMC Regulatory Compliance Manager in the Corporate Product Regulations & Standards Dept.  In this position he served as the corporate focal point for EMC regulations and standards issues and provided in-house consulting and training on EMC design, testing, and standards and regulations matters. Mr. Pettit is a member of a number of standards committees, serves as the Chair of CISPR Subcommittee I and has written 7 technical papers and articles for publication. He is a Duo-Decade member of the dB Society, is an iNARTE Certified EMC Engineer with the Accredited Test Laboratory Engineer Endorsement, and holds an Amateur Extra class amateur radio license.  Mr. Pettit is a Technical Advisor for the Amateur Radio Relay League in the area of EMC. In his spare time, Mr. Pettit is an instrument rated private pilot. Mr. Pettit is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has been a member of the IEEE EMC Society since 1977. He is a past President of the IEEE EMC Society. He received the IEEE 3rd Millenium Award and the Laurence G. Cumming Award for Outstanding Service from the IEEE EMC Society in 2007. Mr. Pettit is listed in the Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.
