New Angles on the Multidimensional Intersymbol Interference (ISI) Problem

  •  Objective:

    • Invent new algorithms to reduce or eliminate the effects of 2D and 3D ISI in next generation optical disk and holographic storage systems.
  • Technologies:

    • Iterative 2D ISI equalization; lowdensity parity check (LDPC) coding; Markov random field (MRF) modeling.
  •  Uniqueness:

    • Best-performing 2D ISI equalizer published to date; only published algorithm to exploit MRF structure of 2D input data.
