Air Traffic Flow Management Under Uncertainty

  • Objective:

    • To develop a comprehensive methodology for air traffic management under uncertainty, through advances in modeling, decentralized control, and numerical simulation.
  • Technologies:

    • Queueing theory, jump-Markov models, graph-based decentralized control, probabilistic collocation methods.
  • Uniqueness:

    • Permits analysis and design of flow management at a network level (across the whole National Airspace System). Crystallizes new techniques in the underlying modeling and control theory.
